For many people music holds a specific memory. However on hearing a recorded blemish it takes us back to that memory of that moment of recording. That moment in turn sticks and now that becomes the expected version of that recording. That is how it has always worked with me at least. Some people love the crackle of the vinyl, for some, nostalgia holds fond memories.
