Days and nights in front of a computer screen staring at representations of sound. Make the noise. I’m waiting for the noise to be made. I can’t do anything until you’ve made the noise. Pavlov had guessed it right, a primitive need fulfilled, a virtual want unfulfilled. Stare, focus, strain. Blink, retina, retention. Clicking repeatedly in the same place, repetitive non-physical exercise.
