Look Out
100 x 50 cm
acrylic on canvas
Many things become clearer when we take a step backwards to examine from a far. Though this not the same as looking at the big picture. Another way though, a different aspect or viewpoint is sort. Look out has a number of interpretations. A simple one is to look out from where you are into a different scene or vista. Looking out to see the sea, to look out of your window to see the clouds rolling by.
Another way of interpretation is to be a look out, to facilitate an early warning of danger, or to be a lookout on duty to warn of approaching land or even icebergs when on board a ship a century or so ago, in the crow’s nest perhaps. These days it is all technology and G.P.S signals.
Look out! With exclamation marks is of course a warning. Beware of a coming danger or threatening situation. A large contrast to a look out at a beautiful horizon at peace with the world or oneself, perhaps ignoring other stimulations. We have heard the warning shout for years!
