I have been looking, trying to understand. Trying to work out, how I am where I am. The reminisces that we all dwell upon. As I stare in this way at a painting which I started two decades ago, the incidental and the accidental shapes transform more readily with potent meaning, shouting out their reasons for being included. The imagined remembered narratives come to life, retelling events as I perceive. Having the luxury of distance and time. It is easy to forget the facts as they once were. The translation is released subconsciously and unknown.
The unfinished work was left as it was due to various constraints. Too close to the proverbial bone, no room to swing a cat as the painting is large, and the simple boredom of the theme. Sleep, awake and return. Revitalised and invigorated. Fresh eyes and freshened mind with an enhanced level of understanding. Time to digest and to nourish, to grow and reflect. The massive unfathomable influences which in time changed faltered in the well of what is now known. Sit back and re-read the images that, for me are filled with past and meaning.
