The Deterioration of Talus
51 x 42 cm
acrylic & pencil on canvas
The Deterioration of Talus:-sounds as if it could be the horrific ending of Perseus’s enemy who was the captor of Pegasus. Perseus defeats “Talus” and wins the winged horse.
Talus the debauched offspring of a wayward Greek god and a mortal. The title seems the give the painting some gravitas. A more abstract artwork than many in the collection/ portfolio. It attempts to suggest the emotional and physical effects of a deteriorated ankle bone. The bone which connects the leg to the foot. The bone that is relied upon for the movement and the flexibility of the foot. The pain forms in the area of issue affecting the ability of the owner to walk any suitable distance to escape the mundane, to strive out to the wilderness, the enjoyable country walk or even a rejuvenating stroll through a forest. Life changing. There is much worse than me, but the level of experience is mine.
